Goal:

To become acquainted with further and in some cases advanced topics from Partial Differential Equations. To work with nonlinear problems and develop ability with some useful techniques. To discuss and develop an understanding of some current research topics in PDE. To include: existence and nonexistence of solutions, blow-up, shocks in Burgers equation, Hölder-regularity of solutions of the Poisson equation, mountain pass theorems, thin film or porous medium equation.

Exam:

There will be an oral exam. 50 percent of the possible points of the corrected homework problems is required for admission to the exam.
